In Paris, Lyon, Toulouse, Strasbourg, around Grenoble and in the entire Greater Municipality of Lille, the département of Gironde including the capital Bordeaux, the Aix–Marseille Metropolis and Saint-Étienne, environmental zones already exist. As new environmental zones are continually being designated and existing regulations are being tightened, a comprehensive overview is not possible. It is therefore advisable to obtain information about the environmental zones of the areas to be driven through before departure. Entering the zones is only permitted with the so-called Crit’Air sticker.
The sticker costs just under four euros plus shipping (shipping time max. 15 days) and is available for foreign vehicles exclusively online at "www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/de". There are six categories of the French environmental sticker, divided into different emission classes.
In Paris, there are restrictions concerning the loading and unloading of HGVs, determined by emissions class and the footprint area of the vehicle combination or semi-trailer. Exempt are HGVs with a footprint of less than 29 m² that meet at least the Euro V emissions standard. For all other vehicles with a footprint of 29 m² to 43 m² there is a delivery and collection ban from 7:00 to 22:00. In addition, loading and unloading is permitted only for a maximum of 30 minutes and with a special parking disc (available, among others, from the French trade association "FNTR", see contact on the left) on which the arrival time and emissions class must be set.
Statutory and regional public holidays: 1 January, 03 April (Good Friday), 06 (Easter Monday), 1 May, 8 May (Liberation Day 1945), 14 May (Ascension Day), 25 May (Whit Monday), 14 July (National Day), 15 August (Assumption of Mary), 1 November (All Saints’ Day), 11 November (Armistice 1918), 25 and 26 (regional) December.
