The general cargo cooperation Cargoline is presenting its new customer app for the first time at this year's Transport Logistic in Munich. The application brings key functions of the digital customer portal Cepra to mobile devices, enabling independent use in warehouses, transshipment halls, or on the go. Visitors can test the app live during the trade fair.

According to the announcement, the app offers a variety of digital tools around shipment handling – including tracking at the package level, CO2 calculation per shipment, a calendar view for orders, as well as integrated package measurement via camera. The development was carried out in cooperation with the software provider ICS.

Artificial Intelligence supports package measurement

A central element is the automatic package measurement. Users point the smartphone camera at the package, and the dimensions appear directly on the screen. This is made possible by Artificial Intelligence working in the background, which evaluates the image material – entirely without additional input.

The app was designed as a native application for Android and iOS to allow full access to device functions such as the camera, push notifications, or scan tools. Shipments can be pinned, status changes tracked via push notifications, orders canceled, or pickup vehicles ordered. Documents can also be digitized and stored directly in the app.

Mobile access to central information

"With the customer app, we have consistently further developed the service concept behind Cepra," says Christopher Klier, Head of Project Management and IT at Cargoline. "Important information and new useful applications are now available to shippers regardless of location. This means, among other things, that real-time tracking can also be applied on mobile devices, for example by employees in the warehouse or on the go. The new functions also save time."

Project manager Hanna Barth adds: "In recent years, we have consistently expanded the customer portal in Cepra with many additional microservices that provide our partners' clients with useful tools around their shipment orders."

Additional Functions Planned

In addition to the already integrated tools, Cargoline announces further functions, including a transit time and quality monitoring, a free CO₂ calculator, as well as a direct communication channel between shippers and Cargoline partner companies.

The app is expected to be available in the common app stores from calendar week 23.
