The Ford Ranger is celebrating a remarkable anniversary: For ten consecutive years, Ford Pro's best-selling pickup has led the European sales charts in its segment. In 2024, almost half of all pickup buyers in Europe chose the Ford model. Its segment market share of 43.6% represents an increase of 1.3 percentage points compared to 2023. In certain markets, the pickup achieved market shares of up to 54.2% last year, with growth rates of 18.6 percentage points. Expressed in absolute numbers: Ford Pro sold 60,400 Rangers across Europe in 2024, representing a 4% increase compared to the previous year.

Ranger with plug-in hybrid drive coming in 2025

This year, Ford Pro is expanding the model range for its European customers with a highly attractive option: The new Ranger with plug-in hybrid drive (PHEV) offers the same towing capacity and payload as well as the same off-road capabilities as the other Ranger versions, and additionally enables a purely electric range of 43 km. With up to 690 Nm, the Ranger PHEV also achieves the highest torque of all Ranger series models.

With the plug-in hybrid model, the Pro Power Onboard function is now also available for the Ranger portfolio: customers can use it to power electric tools or recreational equipment with up to 6.9 kW charging power directly from the onboard battery instead of a specially carried generator. The series production of the Ranger PHEV in Silverton, South Africa, has already started, and the first deliveries are scheduled for this spring.

More to see of the new Ford Ranger PHEV is available online in the video below.

Hans Schep, General Manager of Ford Pro Europe: “Our new Ranger PHEV offers more torque than ever before, can power electric tools or equipment at the construction site or campsite, and can drive purely electrically. This takes the productivity of our pickups a big step forward.”

The Markets of the Ranger

The delivery of the current Ranger generation began in 2023, following a development process in which Ford Pro collaborated with customers around the world.
